Step 7. Align the PCI riser-card assembly with the PCI riser connector on the system board; then, press
down firmly until the PCI riser-card assembly is seated correctly in the connector on the system
board.

Step 8. Reinstall the cover (see "Replacing the cover" on page 105).
Step 9. Slide the server into the rack.
Step 10. Reconnect the power cords and any cables that you removed.
Step 11. Turn on the peripheral devices and the server.

Removing the dedicated slotless HBA controller

Use this information to remove the dedicated slotless HBA controller.
The dedicated slotless HBA controller can be installed in the dedicated connector on the system board (see
"System-board internal connectors" on page 22 for the location of the connectors).
To remove the dedicated slotless HBA controller, complete the following steps:
1. Read the safety information that begins on "Safety" on page v and "Installation guidelines" on page 100.
2. Turn off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect the power cords and all external cables, if
necessary.
3. Remove the cover (see "Removing the cover" on page 104).
4. Disconnect the signal cables from the connectors on the controller and note their locations.
5. 1 Press the retention tabs away from the controller; then, slightly lift up the rear of the controller, and
pull it out of the connector on the system board.
