Chapter 6
A recommended resolution setting is indicated based on whether you are
planning to fax (200 dpi) or print (300 dpi) the scanned image.
Photograph/Picture - Greyscale
For scanning a graphic image, this option produces a greyscale scanned
image, with a higher level of image clarity. However, the scan time may be
particularly slow, and the resulting file very large. You can select to have
the MultiPASS L90 enhance your scanned image as it is processed.
However, if you plan on exporting the scanned image to use with a
graphics application (such as Photoshop), you may prefer to use the 200
dpi (Raw) option. This option provides an image that your graphics
application can enhance itself.
If you scan an image at a higher resolution, the result is an image that
contains more pixels. With more pixels, the scanned image becomes larger
than if you scanned with a lower resolution. If you subsequently print the
image, the resulting size of the image may affect whether the image prints on
one or more pages. The printed result may differ depending on the
application from which you print. For additional information, refer to the
documentation for the Windows application you are using.
Brightness
This option enables you to lighten or darken the brightness of your scanned
image. The option provides another method for improving the quality of your
scanned image.
View After Scan
If selected, this option displays the scanned image automatically in the
Desktop Manager Document Viewer. In the Document Viewer, you can
review the image, add annotations, or export the document to use with
another application. If you do not select this option, you can open the
document later when you are ready to view it in the Document Viewer.
