2. Measure:
• camshaft lobe dimensions a and b
Out of specification → Replace the cam-
shaft.

Intake
a 33.252 ~ 33.352 mm
b 24.956 ~ 25.056 mm
Exhaust
a 33.252 ~ 33.352 mm
b 24.956 ~ 25.056 mm
3. Measure:
• camshaft runout
Out of specification → Replace.
Camshaft runout limit
0.03 mm (0.0012 in)
4. Measure:
• camshaft-journal-to-camshaft-cap clear-
ance
Out of specification → Measure the cam-
shaft journal diameter.
Camshaft-journal-to-camshaft-
cap clearance
0.020 ~ 0.054 mm
(0.0008 ~ 0.0021 in)
<Limit>: 0.08 mm (0.0031 in)

a. Install the camshaft into the cylinder head
(without the dowel pins and camshaft caps).
b. Position a strip of Plastigauge
camshaft journal as shown.
