4.2.9 Bitrate Command

Purpose: To set the bit rate of the serial communications link. The bit rate is changed immediately after
the successful receipt of this command. (The default bit rate is 9600.)
Type: This is a write only command.

When changing the bit rate for serial communication, use the following procedure:

1. Issue the write command with the new bit rate.
2. Wait one second.
3. Change the bit rate on the serial port that the camera is using:
a) If you are using a Camera Link frame grabber, change the bit rate on the
frame grabber's RS-644 serial port.
b) If you are using the camera with a k-BIC, change the bit rate on your PC's
RS-232 serial port (A501
4. Resume communication.
Notes: At a camera reset or a power off/on, the camera will return to the 9600 bps
default setting.
The RS-644 serial port on some Camera Link frame grabbers will only support a
bit rate of 9600. If you are using a Camera Link frame grabber, check the grabber's
documentation before attempting to change the bit rate.
