Disconnect power before servicing.
Replace all parts and panels before operating.
Failure to do so can result in death or electrical shock.
MOTOR THERMAL PROTECTOR
Refer to page 4-11 for the procedure for ser-
vicing the motor.
1. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
2. Disconnect one of the wires from the mo-
tor thermal protector.
3. Set the ohmmeter to the R x 1 scale.
4. Touch the ohmmeter test leads to the ter-
minals of the motor thermal protector. The
meter should indicate a closed circuit (0 Ω).

MOTOR START CAPACITOR
Refer to page 4-11 for the procedure for ser-
vicing the motor start capacitor.
1. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
2. Discharge the capacitor by touching each
of the terminals with a 20,000 Ω (red, black,
orange) resistor to ground.
3. Disconnect the wire connectors from the
capacitor terminals.
4. Set the ohmmeter to the R x 1K scale.
5. Touch the ohmmeter test leads to the ca-
pacitor terminals. The meter should quickly
rise to a low resistance, (see the Illustra-
tion), and then gradually fall to a high re-
sistance. To repeat the test, reverse the
ohmmeter leads. The result should be the
same if the capacitor is good.
