– Drain coolant.
– Remove left service cover.
– Disconnect plug.

Use special socket, BMW No. 11 7 020, to re-
move double temperature sensor.

Tightening torques:
Double temperature sensor .......................... 15 Nm

# Checking timing chain

– Turn crankshaft to top dead centre and secure in
this position.
•
Remove threaded plug complete with sealing
C1110890
ring.
•
Use depth gauge to measure distance "A".
Wear value:
Distance A ............................. max. 6 mm (0.236 in)

Note:
If distance "A" is below specification, check the fol-
lowing components: Timing chain, chain guides
