fields in this menu depend on this parameter. For example, in order to enable Call
Back, the Call Direction must be Both. Calling Line ID is the telephone number of
the calling party of this remote node. If you enable the CLID Authen field in Menu 13 -
Default Dial In, the Prestige will check this number against the CLID in the incoming
call. If they do not match and the CLID Authen is Required, then the Prestige will
reject the call. Incoming: Call Back determines whether or not you wish the Prestige
to call back after receiving a call from this remote node. If this option is enabled, the
Prestige will disconnect the initial call from this node and call it back at the Outgoing
Primary Phone Number (see below). The Prestige supports two authentication protocols:
PAP (Password Authentication Protocol) and CHAP (Challenge Handshake
Authentication Protocol).
♦ PAP sends the user name and password in plain text.
♦ CHAP scrambles the password before it is sent over the wire.
CHAP is more secure than PAP; however, PAP is readily available on more platforms.
The recommendation is to use CHAP whenever possible. Choices for this field are:
Telco Options: Transfer Type field (which only applies to outgoing calls) controls the
type of connection between your Prestige and the remote node. There are four choices for
this field:

CHAP/PAP - Prestige accepts either CHAP or PAP whichever is requested by this
remote node.
CHAP - use CHAP only.
PAP - use PAP only.
64K - The Prestige places 64Kbps (bits per second) digital data calls.
Modem - The Prestige places modem data calls over ISDN.
Leased - The router places leased-line calls.
Nailed-up Connection This can only be toggled if the Transfer Rate is 64K or
Modem over ISDN. Otherwise, it is set at No.
