4. Accelerating with a cold engine
When an engine is not warmed-up sufficient-
ly, the mixture will be lean during accelera-
A <:_ Air tion. The Cold Engine Starting System
B _ Fuel provides a rich mixture for smooth accelera-
(_ C _ Mixture tion when the engine is cold, because the
Cold Engine Starting Plunger is open due to
the cold wax in the choke unit. However, fuel
will not be supplied unless the engine is ac-
celerated. When the engine warms up suffi-
ciently, the plunger will close due to the
warmed wax in the choke unit.
