SCSI Backplane

The following procedures cover removal and replacement of the SCSI backplane.

Removal

1. If you have not already done so, shut down the system as described in "Stopping
the System" on page 248.
2. If you have not already done so, unplug the system power cables from the
electrical outlet.
3. If you have not already done so, remove the service access cover as described in
"Service Access Cover" on page 251.
4. Remove the hot-swap drives as described in "Hot-Swap Disk Drives" on page 286.
5. Remove the fan assemblies 3 and 4 as described in "Hot-Swap Fan Assembly" on
page 290.
6. Remove the processor and memory card cover as described in "Processor and
Memory Card Cover" on page 254.
7. Remove the CEC cage as described in "CEC Cage" on page 255.
8. Remove all cables from the backplane.
9. Remove the screws and remove the SCSI repeater card (2) from the backplane.
10. Remove the screws from the SCSI backplane.
11. Pull the release lever (1) and remove the backplane.

Replacement

1. Attach the SCSI repeater card removed earlier to the new backplane.
2. Replace in reverse order.
