Create a Virtual Disk
IMPORTANT: If you plan to take snapshots, you must leave space in the RAID Group for the
Snapshot Pool. It is recommended that you leave at least 20% of the space for snapshots and
use the remaining 80% for virtual disks. Refer to
This example shows the basic steps needed to create a virtual disk from a RAID Group using
the Create a Virtual Disk dialog:

Change the properties of a virtual disk:
• Virtual Disk Name
• Cache Mode
• Priority
• Bg Rate (Background Rate)
• Read-Ahead
Attach LUN
Attach a LUN to a virtual disk.
Detach LUN
Detach a LUN from a virtual disk.
List LUNs
List all LUNs attached to a virtual disk.
Set Clone
Use to set the target.
Set Snapshot Space
Reserve space for taking snapshots. The minimum size is
suggested to be 20% of the RAID Group size. See more under
"Create the Snapshot Space" on page
Cleanup Snapshots
Deletes all snapshots of a virtual disk and frees up the snapshot
space for use.
Set Snapshot Space
Reserve RAID Group space for snapshots.
Scheduled Snapshots Schedule times for automatic snapshots.
Take a Snapshot
Manually create a snapshot.
Cleanup Snapshots
Remove/delete all existing snapshot
