The tester leads are marked RUN, START,
a nd C OM M ON . C o n ne ct the co mmon le a d
to
t h e
co m mo n te rmin a l of
th e
compressor, the start lead to the start
ter m i n a l a n d t h e ru n l ea d to th e r un
te rmi n al . T h e
co mpr esso r te r m in al
a r ra ng e m e n t s a re i l lu stra te d b e lo w. T he
o ther t wo leads ar e for a star t capac itor (if
used). W hen not in use, att ach the tw o
leads t oget her and place t he t oggl e sw i tc h
in t he OFF position. Make sure ther e ar e
no bar e leads touching the cabinet. Plug
in t he tester and flip t he swit ch to the s tart
posit ion. As soon as the compres s or
starts, release the switch to the run
posit ion. lf the com pr essor is operati ve, it
w i l l c o n t i n u e o p e r a t i n g o n t h e r u n
windings. lf the compr essor fails to run,
the compressor is defect ive and must be
r eplaced.
