1. C onnect the hose of the charging c y l-
inder t o t he syst em t hrough a gauge
manif old as shown in previous draw -
i n g . C l o s e v a l v e " A " o n t h e m a n i f o l d .
2 . O p e n t h e c h a r g i n g c y l i n d e r a n d p u r g e
the hose. A s soon as the refri gerant
h a s s t a b i l i z e d i n t h e c h a r g i n g c y l i n d e r ,
check the pr essur e r eading of the c yl -
inder and r otat e the sleeve to c orr ect
t he sett ing for pr essur e and t he ty pe
of r efr igerant being used.
3. Consult Section 9 for the am ount of
c h a r g e n e e d e d , t h e n o p e n v a l v e " 8 " .
As you charge t he syst em, you may
n o t i c e s o m e b u b b l e s i n t h e c y l i n d e r .
T h e s e c a n b e e l i m i n a t e d b y c l o s i n g
y o u r s e r v i c e v a l v e a n d t i p p i n g t h e c y l -
i n d e r u p s i d e - d o w n m o m e n t a r i l y . T h e n
c o n t i n u e c h a r g i n g u n t i l t h e c o r r e c t
charge has enter ed t he system.
lf at any time you are r equir ed to rai se the
i n t e r n a l p r e s s u r e o f t h e c h a r g i n g c y l i n d e r ,
o r i f y o u r c h a r g i n g c y l i n d e r d o e s n o t h a v e
a n i n t e r n a l h e a t e r , p l a c e t h e c y l i n d e r i n a
bucket of war m wat er (not over 125o F ).
N e v e r h e a t a c h a r g i n g c y l i n d e r w i t h a
flam e. Such action could cause hy dros-
t a t i c p r e s s u r e t o b u i l d u p t o d a n g e r o u s
l e v e l s a n d p o s s i b l y c a u s e t h e c y l i n d e r t o
r u p t u r e i i k e a b o m b .
4 . W hen you ar e sur e t he system is c or-
rect ly charged, stop the flow of r efr i-
g e r a n t a t v a l v e " B " . T h e n p i n c h o f f t h e
low side pr ocess tube, close the
c h a r g i n g c y l i n d e r v a l v e , r e m o v e t h e
ser vice valve, and solder t he pr ocess
t u b e c l o s e d .
