Section 6 – Total Recall

Overview

The AWS 900+ Total Recall package is a chargeable option for the AWS 900+ console. Consoles that have the
option installed will display a 'TR' logo in the top corner of the TFT screen. Information on purchasing and
installing Total Recall can be found later in this chapter.
The system uses the inboard TFT screen to give a graphical display of current and stored control settings of all
rotary controls, faders and switches on the AWS 900+ channel and centre section modules. Controls that are in
different positions from the stored values are highlighted in white (faders and rotary controls) or yellow
(switches). To provide maximum clarity rotary controls are shown as horizontal sliders and switches as boxes.
Electronically latched switches such as routing, EQ, Insert, Dynamics and Cut switches can be reset to match
the stored setup by pressing the fader status switch twice.
Stored setups can be copied or swapped between channels by holding down the fader status switch on the
source channel then pressing the fader status switch on the destination channel. If the COPY switch is selected
the source channel settings are copied to the destination channel: if not the source and destination channel
settings are swapped. See page 6-4.
Up to 32 different TR setups can be stored in local memory on the AWS 900+. An unlimited number can be
saved as a System Exclusive dump to a sequencer, MIDI librarian or workstation and loaded back to the AWS
900+ by playing through the SysEx track. See page 6-3 for more details.

Installation

A Total Recall activated version of the current software must be downloaded from the SSL website to a Mac or
PC that is connected to the AWS 900+ MIDI port. To activate Total Recall you will need to have purchased a
Total Recall activation code from your distributor. You will also need the serial number of your console which
can be found on the silver label on the rear of the console, adjacent to the mains connector.
Page 6-6 details the download and installation process.
Once Total Recall has been activated for a particular console all future downloads will automatically include the
Total Recall software. Activated software will run on any AWS 900+ consoles but Total Recall will only be
available on the console the software was originally downloaded for.
Total Recall data can be transferred to and from a PC or Mac using MIDI port 4 on the AWS 900+. This must
be connected to a spare MIDI port on your MIDI interface and added to your MIDI setup before you can save or
load Total Recall.

Operation

Accessing Total Recall

Total Recall is accessed using the soft keys on
the Master Control Panel in the centre section.
Refer to page 5-22 for an explanation of the use
of soft keys if you are not familiar with this section
of the console.
Use the soft keys to select SSL then TR to
access the main Total Recall menu.
The bottom row of soft keys will now show a
