Remote Operation

4.2.1

Remote Programming

The 1812 can be programmed and operated from a remote location using a touch-tone telephone. Be
sure that the ability for the 1812 to answer an incoming call has not been disabled (see 2.4.9).
Note: The 1812 master code cannot be programmed remotely – it can only be programmed from the
system keypad – see Programming the Master Code on page 27.
1. Call the resident's phone number. After the programmed number of rings (2.4.9) the 1812 will
answer with a tone.
2. Follow the desired programming steps in Section 2 of this manual.
3. When complete with the desired programming function, hang up. You cannot use 0# to end
programming steps from a touch-tone telephone.

4.2.2 Remote Relay Activation

The 1812 system relays can be activated from a remote (off site) location. Be sure that the ability for
the 1812 to answer an incoming call has not been disabled (see 2.4.9). Refer to the tone open
numbers that where programmed in section 2.4.8 to determine each of the activation numbers.
Momentary Activation (Relay activates for its programmed strike time)
Hold Open (Relay will activate and remain activated).
Deactivate (Relay will deactivate)
Hold 1 Hour (Relay will activate for 1 hour and then automatically deactivate)
To activate the relay(s) from a remote (off-site) location, perform the following steps.
1. Call the resident's phone number. After the programmed number of rings (2.4.9) the 1812 will
answer with a tone.
2. Press * 1 6 and enter the MASTER CODE. [ * 1 6 _ _ _ _ (beep)]
(Two-way voice communication is also enabled at this point)
3. Enter the desired tone open number. [ _ (beep)]
4. Hang up.
