Troubleshooting (Continued)
Error
• There is no picture on
monitor/TV after
connecting it to the DVR
• There is no picture on
selected channels /
camera picture is not
being displayed
• There are strip lines in
the image from a camera
• The system beeps at
startup
• The image on the DVR
appears, but does not
have sound
Possible Causes
• Monitor/TV not detected by DVR • Power off the monitor/TV and DVR. Power on the
• Input channel for DVR not
selected on monitor/TV
• Video cable is loose or has
become disconnected
• Video-out resolution has been
set to the incorrect setting
• HDMI and VGA TVs/monitors
connected at the same time
• Camera cables are loose or
have become disconnected
• There is an issue with the
extension cable
• Cameras are incompatible with
the DVR (Non-HD-SDI cameras)
• Camera input resolution is set
incorrectly
• Video cable connection too tight • Make sure to allow for some slack in the cable.
• No audio device connected
• Audio has not been enabled
• Audio cables are loose or have
been disconnected
• Volume on external speakers
(not included) is low or off
Solutions
monitor/TV, and then power on the DVR
• On the monitor/TV, select the input channel the
DVR is connected to
• Check the video cable connection to the DVR and
monitor/TV
• Ensure the Input/Output switches on the back
panel are set to the correct resolution settings for
your monitor. See page 4 for details
• The DVR can only use a single monitor connected
using either VGA or HDMI. Disconnect one of the
monitors and restart the DVR using the power cable
• Check the camera video cable and connections
• Disconnect and reconnect the cable at the system
and at the camera
• Try moving the camera to another channel or use
another cable
• Ensure you are using high-grade RG59 or RG6
extension cables
• Ensure you are only running one cable for the
entire run between the camera and the DVR
• Ensure the extension cable is no longer than 300ft
• HD-SDI cameras are required for use with this
DVR. Regular BNC cameras cannot be used
• Make sure that the #2 Input/Output switch on the
back panel is set to U for 1080p cameras or D for
720p cameras. You cannot use a mix of 720p and
1080p cameras
Strip lines may appear if the connection is too tight
• The beep at startup is normal
• Audio-capable cameras (not-included) or
self-powered microphones (not-included) are
required for audio
• See "Appendix C: Recording Audio" on page 135.
• Check the AUDIO Input connections to the DVR
• Increase volume on external speakers (not
included)
