Check List
When a Server HBA Fails and Needs to be Replaced
This section explains the procedure that is required when the HBAs on the server need to be replaced due to
an FC card failure.
Only an overview of this procedure is provided here. For details, refer to related manuals.
Identifiers such as WWNs and IP addresses of ports persist even after CMs, CAs, and ports of the ETERNUS
DX are changed.
FC/FCoE Card Replacement
The following procedure explains how to replace the FC/FCoE card.

Use ETERNUS Web GUI or ETERNUS CLI to check the WWN, the host affinity and the other settings of the
FC/FCoE card that is to be removed, and then record the settings.

Replace the FC/FCoE card on the server.

Turn off the server where the FC/FCoE card is to be replaced.
(2)
Replace the FC/FCoE card.

Use ETERNUS Web GUI or ETERNUS CLI to specify the required settings.

Change the WWN, host affinity, and other settings of the removed FC/FCoE card.
Set the WWN, host affinity, and other settings of the new FC/FCoE card by referring to the informa-
tion recorded in

When an FC switch or a Converged switch is used, the WWN zoning settings need to be changed.
For details on this setting, refer to relevant manuals of the switch.

After completing the settings, confirm that access from the server is available.
LAN Card Replacement
The following procedure explains how to replace the LAN card.

Turn off the server where the LAN card is to be replaced.
2
Replace the LAN card.
For details on the replacement procedure, refer to the relevant documentation for the LAN card.
