15.1 Functional Description

The Audio Amplifier Module 410539 amplifies the signal from the speaker output
of the main board. The amplifier module has two channels to allow for stereo
sound.
An active crossover splits each audio signal into a high frequency and a low
frequency and the signal is then fed to the power amplifiers. The active crossover
allows easy balance of the acoustic output of the speakers as they have different
sensitivity.
A signal detector circuit mutes the amplifier when not in use to minimize the
power consumption.
A digital potentiometer controls the volume. This can be controlled by a panel-
mounted toggle switch.
The audio amplifier is powered from the 24V rail of the EGM.
A power supply generates the correct voltage required for the amplifier.
