By selecting an external reference you are disabling the
internal reference circuit. If no, a 10 MHz reference is
connected to the instrument, the 3155 will generate an
indeterminate frequency.
Figure 3-33, The Standard Waveforms Panel
The Waveforms group lets you select standard functions and modify
their associated parameters. You can select any of nine standard
wave shapes that the 3155 can generate. Select a standard output
waveform by pressing one of the buttons. After you have made this
selection, you'll be granted access to parameters that are unique for
this function. For example, if you click on the Square button, the Duty
Cycle parameter will be available for modification. Likewise, if you
select the pulse shape, the fall, high, rise and delay parameters will
be available for modification. Note that by clicking a button in this
group, you immediately update the 3155 output with this waveform
shape.
The Arbitrary & Sequence panel, as shown in Figure 3-5, is invoked
either by pressing the ARB button on the Panels bar, or clicking on
the Arbitrary or Sequenced Waveforms on the Main Panel. Note that
if you invoke the Arbitrary & Sequence Panel from the Panels menu,
the 3155 will not change its output type. On the other hand, if you
select the arbitrary, or the sequenced options from the Main Panel,
aside from invoking the Arbitrary & Sequenced Panel, the 3155 i m -
mediately changes its output type to the selected waveform type. The
functional groups in the Arbitrary Waveforms Panel are described
below.
