Being an arbitrary waveform generator, the 3155 has to be loaded
with waveform data before it can start generating waveforms. A
waveform generation and editing utility is part of WaveCAD and is
called Waveform Composer. This program gives you tools to create
definitions for arbitrary waveforms. It can also convert data files from
other products, such as oscilloscopes, and use them directly as
waveform data. The program has many features and options so use
the following paragraphs to learn how to create, edit and download
waveforms to the 3155 using the Waveform Composer.
You can invoke the Waveform Composer program from two places.
On the Panels bar click on WAVE, or from the Arbitrary & Sequence
Panel click on "To Wave Composer". Figure 3-12 shows the wave-
form composer, immediately after the first invocation of this utility.
The Wave Composer has three sections: the Command menu, Tool-
bar and Waveform graph. Refer to Figure 3-12 throughout the d e-
scription of these sections.
The command menus provide access to standard Windows functions
such as File and Edit. In addition, there are WaveCAD-specific com-
mands such as View, Wave, and System.
In many cases, clicking on one of the commands opens a dialog box
with an additional list of commands. Then, clicking on an additional
command may open a dialog box or generate an immediate action.
For example, Clicking on File and then Exit causes the immediate
termination of Wave Composer. On the other hand, clicking on Wave
and then on Sine, opens a Sine Wave dialog box that lets you pro-
gram and edit sine wave parameters. The various commands in the
Commands menu bar are listed and described below.
