Managing the Stack (CLI)

This section provides information about the commands you use to manage
the stack and view information about the switch stack. For more information
about these commands, see the
Guide at support.dell.com/manuals.

Configuring Stack Member, Stack Port, and NSF Settings

Beginning in Privileged EXEC mode, use the following commands to
configure stacking and NSF settings.

PowerConnect 8024/8024F CLI Reference
Purpose
Enter Global Configuration mode.
Change the switch ID number. The valid range is 1-10.
NOTE:
Changing the ID number causes all switches in the
stack to be reset to perform Management unit renumbering.
The running configuration is cleared when the units reset.
Enter Global Stack Configuration mode.
Move the management switch functionality from one
switch to another.
Specify the stack member that will come up as the master
if a stack failover occurs.
Configure a description for the specified stack member.
Add a switch to the stack and specify the model of the new
stack member.

- The switch unit ID
SID
- The index into the database of the supported
switch types, indicating the type of the switch being
preconfigured. To view the SID associated with the
supported switch types, use the show supported
switchtype command in Privileged EXEC mode.
Set the mode of the port to either Ethernet or stacking.
