Configuring Port Characteristics (CLI)

This section provides information about the commands you use to configure
port characteristics. For more information about the commands, see the
PowerConnect 8024/8024F CLI Reference Guide

Configuring Port Settings

Beginning in Privileged EXEC mode, use the following commands to
configure various port settings.

Purpose
Enter Global Configuration mode.
Enter interface configuration mode for the specified
interface

You can also specify a range of interfaces with the interface
range command, for example, interface range
tengigabitethernet 1/0/8-12 configures interfaces 8, 9, 10,
11, and 12.
Add a description to the port. The text string can be
from1-64 characters.
Administratively disable the interface.
Configure the speed of a given Ethernet interface or allow
the interface to automatically detect the speed.
If you use the 10, 100, or 1000 keywords with the auto
keyword, the port autonegotiates only at the specified
speeds.
Configure the full/half duplex operation of a given
Ethernet interface, or enable duplex auto-negotiation.
Enable jumbo frames on an interface by adjusting the
maximum size of a packet.
Exit to Privileged EXEC mode.
Show summary information about all interfaces.
