Replicating Oracle tablespaces using snapshots

Replicate (back up) the virtual disks that comprise an Oracle tablespace (and its associated archived
redo logs) by using snapshots. See snapshots.
Considerations
You can use the GUI or jobs to create snapshots of an Oracle tablespace. See Oracle
actions cross
Only permanent and undo tablespaces can be replicated. Temporary tablespaces cannot be
replicated. See tablespaces.
You can choose to replicate the associated archived redo logs, or not.

Procedure
This procedure uses the GUI.
1.
In the navigation pane select Oracle.
2.
On the Tablespaces tab, select the Oracle tablespaces to replicate.
3.
Select Actions > Replicate Tablespace (Snapshot). The Replicate Oracle Tablespaces via
Snapshot window opens. Follow the instructions in the window.

Restoring (recovering) Oracle resources

Restoring Oracle resources using the GUI

Restore (recover) copies of Oracle resources using the GUI. You can restore the copies to the original
server or to a different Oracle server.
The replication manager restores Oracle resources by presenting and mounting copies of the virtual disks
that comprise an Oracle database (tablespaces and archived redo logs).
Considerations
Oracle repository. You can only restore Oracle resources if a repository exists that contains
point-in-time copies of the resources. The repository and resources must have been created
using the replication manager.
Tablespaces. You can choose to restore all tablespaces in the repository, or not.
Archived redo logs. You can choose to restore all associated archived redo logs in the repository,
or not.
Oracle server to restore to. The server to restore to must be on an enabled host that is available to
the replication manager. See

In the navigation pane, select Oracle.

On the Repositories tab, select the repository to restore from.
3.
Select Actions > Restore. The Restore Oracle window opens. Follow the instructions in the
window.
