EXTERNAL MONITOR

To connect an external CRT monitor, you need a monitor signal cable. A
signal cable is usually provided with the monitor. One end of the cable must
have a 15-pin connector for the docking station.
You can use an external monitor with or without the CRT base. If you
choose not to use the CRT base provided with the docking station, place the
external monitor on the table or desk next to the docking station.
Always use the CRT base if you are going to put an external CRT
monitor on the docking station. Never place an external monitor or
any other heavy object directly on the docking station or NEC Versa
without the CRT base. Doing so can damage the unit.
The CRT base weight limit is 60 lb (27.2 kg) equivalent to a 17-inch
NEC monitor. Do not exceed the weight limit. Doing so can damage
the unit.
Use the following steps to connect an external monitor to the docking sta-
tion. If you choose not to use the CRT base, skip steps 2 and 3.

If the NEC Versa is docked, turn off power to the computer. (If you
have a Plug and Play system, you can put your system into Suspend
mode instead of turning off system power.)

When using the CRT base, the NEC Versa display panel is closed and
secured.
