Solving Problems

This appendix describes what to do if you encounter problems using the
NEC Docking Station 6000. Use the information in this appendix to deter-
mine and fix the problem. Often, you can solve problems that occur by
yourself.
If you still need help, see the section "If You Need Help" at the end of this
appendix.

PROBLEM CHECKLIST

Check the items in the following list if you cannot get the NEC Docking
Station 6000 to work. If these do not help, continue to the "Troubleshoot-
ing" section of this appendix.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Check that the NEC Versa is connected properly to the docking station.
Check that NEC Versa power is turned on and that the NEC Versa is not
in a power-saving state such as Sleep mode.
Verify that the electrical outlet to which the docking station is connected
is working. Test the outlet by plugging in a lamp or other electrical
device.
Make sure all cables are connected tightly.
While trying to record using the microphone, excessive noise is emanat-
ing from the speakers.
Try moving the speakers away from the docking station.
Try adjusting the volume with the volume control know. Or, open the
Audio Applications in Windows and adjust the volume control with
the slide bar. You can also try adjusting the Mic control in the Mixer
or using the volume knob.
