5) In accordance with the recommendation of the International Federation of
Clinical Neurophysiology and American Clinical Neurophysiology Society,
the one-channel ECG shall be recorded simultaneously with a routine EEG
exam. To record ECG, use limb clamp ECG electrodes with cables. To do
it, position a contact area of red clamp ECG electrode on the lower third of
the right inner forearm (Fig. 34). The yellow limb clamp EСG electrode
should be placed on the left hand in the same way. Prior to electrode
placement degrease the patient's skin with an alcohol wipe. To ensure bet-
ter impedance apply conductive gel or position a gauze pad moistened in
the saline solution on the contact area of the electrode. After the elec-
trodes are placed, plug their cables in the electronic unit. The ECG chan-
nel is assigned in the montage. Plug the cable of the red limb clamp ECG
electrode in the negative input of differential channel and the cable of
the yellow limb clamp ECG electrode in the positive input. Use an earlier
positioned ground EEG electrode as a ground one.
