Appendix E – Replacing an Optima Power Supply

If the power supply has a separate fan cable, unplug the fan cable connector from the "FAN PWR"
connector on the Backplane (FIG. 43). If power supply's fan gets power from the DC wiring
harness, unplugging the DC harness in Step 8 disconnected the fan.

10. Remove the single screw at the top of the power supply plate that secures the power supply to the
enclosure and the ground wire to the mounting plate (FIG. 44).

Caution: When removing the power supply, take great care to avoid bumping the power supply into
the CPU board on the right or into the I/O boards behind the power supply. Be especially careful that
the fan screws do not damage any of the surrounding boards.
11. Carefully slide the power supply to the right until the three tabs on the bottom of the power supply
mount are free of the double-bridge guides (FIG. 45).

12. Carefully lift the power supply just high enough to avoid the bridge guides and slide it as far left as
possible.
13. Slowly pull the left-hand side forward as you pull the power supply out from behind the Backplane.
14. Place the power supply in an ESD approved static shield bag and set aside.
