2.7 Lubricating System

Oil is injected to the rotors rotating quickly in the airend, it provides sealing by sticking onto the
surface of the rotors while the rotors compress the air. Also this oil lubricates the bearings where rotors
are supported.
Oil has three basic functions for screw type compressors:
Absorbing the heat resulting from friction of rotors and compression of air in the airend and
transferring it to cooling elements,
Ensure sealing by forming an oil film between rotors,
Lubricating rotors and bearings supporting the rotors.

2.8 Optional Cooling Systems

2.8.1 Water Cooled

Water cooled systems are the systems that cool the oil circulating in the oil circuit and the
compressed air generated by the system by means of the plate type exchanger. These systems are
optional in HERTZ screw type compressors and provide more efficient system cooling with the help of
the plate type exchanger specially designed per the capacity of your compressor. Plate type exchangers
cool the oil circulating in the compressor and the compressed air generated by it.
