If you lock the vehicle using the power locking switch, please note
the f o llowing:
•
You cannot open the doors or the front lid from the outside
(increased security, for example when you are stopped at a red
light).
•
The LED in the power locking switch lights up when all the doors
and the front lid are closed and locked.
•
You can unlock and open the doors from the inside by pulling on
the door handle .
•
If the driver's door is opened (after you have locked the vehicle
from the inside using the power locking switch), the door will
remain un locked to prevent you from locking yourself out of your
vehicle . After you close the door, you have to lock the drive r's door
again .
•
If you have a crash and the airbag is activated , the doors auto-
matical ly un lock.

WARNING
•
If you use the power locking sw itch with the doors closed,
remember th at all the vehi cle doors will lock.
•
Locking doors from th e inside can help prevent inadvertent
door opening dur ing an accident and can also prevent unw ant ed
entry from the out side. Locked door s can, however, delay assis-
t ance t o vehicle occupants and hold up rescue efforts from t he
out side in an accident or other emer gency.

If the power locking system fails (power failure), you will
need to lock the passenger door separately.

For this purpose, a mechanical locking device is provided on
the end panel of the passenger door (only visible when the
door is open).
Open the door.
Remove the cap =:> fig. 34.
Insert t he key into the inner slot =:> fig. 35 and t urn it
about 90 degrees to the righ t as far as it ca n go .
