A malfunction
con hove various causes.
If the

warning light in the instrument cluster flashes for approxi -
mately on e m inute and then remains cont inuously illuminated and
additional ly the TPMS symbo l appears in the disp lay, the tire pres -
sure monitor ing syst em is not availab le. The text Tyire pressure!
System malfun ction appears in the display. This can have various
causes .
•
A wheel sensor or other component may have failed.
•
During ini t ializati on t he syste m has detected more t han 4 wheels
on the vehicle, for example whi le driving next to another car with a
ti re pressure monitor i ng system .
•
Audi replacement parts were not used .
•
If snow chains are bei ng used, system function can be compro -
mised due to the shie lding properties of the chains.
•
The tire pressure mon itor ing system may not be avai lable
because of a radio malfunction.
•
Transmitters with the same frequency, such as radio head -
phones in the vehic le or radio equipment, can cause a temporary
d isrupt ion of the system through excessive electromagnet ic fields .
•
Elim inat e the interference if you can and t hen procee d as
fol lows: Turn off the engine for 20 minutes. Then dr ive another 10
min. If the warning light comes on again, you shou ld contact your
authorized Audi dea ler i mmediately to have the prob lem corrected.
•
Do not use commerc ially avai labl e ti re sealant s. Ot herwise, t he
electr ical components of the tire pressure monitoring system wi ll
no longer work properly and the sensor for the tire pressure moni -
toring system wi ll have to be replaced by a qua lified workshop. •

Defective
light bulb warning

The defecti ve lig ht bul b wa rni ng tells you wh en a vehicl e
ligh t bul b hos become defecti ve.
If a defective bu lb has been detected by the system or a light bu lb
bu rns out, the ~ symbo l with a message ap pears in the di splay to
te ll you which bulb is burnt out and where it is located . For examp le:
REAR LEFT TURN SIGNAL
Af ter 5 seconds, t he message disapp ears. If yo u want to reca ll t he
message into the display, press the CHECK button =::, page 12, fig. 2

There are three reasons why the defective bulb message wou ld
appear in the display:
•
The light bulb has burnt out=::, page
252.
•
The fuse is "blown" =::, page 249, "Rep lacing a fuse".
•
The wire connection to t he light bu lb is defect ive.
