Note
Before winter sets in, have the coolant checked to see if the
coolant additive in your vehicle is sufficient to meet the climate
conditions. This is especia lly important
if you live in a region where
the winter is extremely cold. If necessary, increase the proportion of
coo lant additive to 60%.
Only G12++, an additive meeting specification "TL-VW 774G" may
be used as a coolant additive. Other coo lant addit ives may ser iously
degrade the corrosion protection . The resulting damage can cause
loss of coolant and subsequently lead to serious engine damage.
The coolant additive G12++ must not be mixed w ith other coolant
additives.
Do not add any type of radiator leak sealant to your vehicle's
engine coolant. Adding radiator repair fluid may adversely affect the
function and performance of your cooling system and could result
in damage not covered by your New Vehicle Limited Warranty. •

Proceed carefully when checking the coolant.

Before you check anything in the engine compartment,

- Switch t he ignition off .

Place a rag or cloth on the cap of the coolant expansion
tank and turn the cap carefully to the left (counter-c lock-
wise)

- Read the coolant level inside the coolant expansion tank

"min" mark. With a hot engine, it can be a little above the
indicated range.
The coolant expansion tank is located on the right side of the engine
compartment . Its location can be seen in the engine compartment
il lustration=>
page 195.
To obtain an accurate reading, the engine must be switched off.
The expansion tank in your vehicle is equipped with an electric
coolant level sensor=> page 37. We still recommend you check the
coo lant level from time to time.
