Close your gr ip around the end of t he wrench hand le f o r
maximum torque and t urn each whee l bolt clockwi se
unti l it sits t ight .
Have the t ight ening torque of the wheel bolts checked as soon as
possible with a torque wrench. It should be 120 Nm .
Check the tir e pressure as soon as possib le.
Return the veh ic le too l kit to its proper p lace.

Loosening th e w heel bolts is prohibited ; danger of an accident !

Tips
Never try and use the hexagona l socket i n the handle of the
screwdriver to loosen or tighten the wheel bo lts .
If you have determined that whee l bolts are corroded and diffi-
cult to turn, t he bo lts must be rep laced before check i ng the torque.
Until the tightening
torque is checked, drive at reduced speeds
as a precaution . •

on wheel
change
Please read the information
:::::> page 218, "New tires and rep lacing
tires and wheels", if you are going to use a spare tire which is
different from the tires on your veh icle .
After you change a tire:
Check the tire pressure on the spare immediate ly after
mount ing .

Have the wheel bo lt tightening
torque checked with a torque
wrench as soon as poss ib le by your aut horized Audi dealer or a qual -
ified service station.
With stee l and al loy whee l rims, the w heel bolts are correc t ly
tightened at a torque of 90 ft lb (120 Nm).
If you notice wh ile changing a tire that t he wheel bo lts are
corroded and difficu lt to turn, then they shou ld be replaced before
you check t he tightening
torque .
Replace the f lat tire with a new one and have it installed on your
vehic le as soon as poss ib le. Remount the wheel cover.
Until then , drive w ith extr a care and at reduced speed s.

If you are going to equip your vehicle w ith tire s or rims w hich
diffe r from those which were fact ory installed , then be sure to read
the infor mation :::::> page 218, "New t ires and replacing tire s and
wheel s".
Always sto re the t ools securely in luggage comp artment .
Otherwi se, in an accident or sudden maneu ver they could fly
forw ard, causing injury to passengers in the vehicle.

Do not use commercially available tire sealants. Otherwise, the elec -
t rical components of the t ire pressure monitoring
syste m * will no
longer work properly and the sensor for the tire pressure moni -
toring system wi ll have to be rep laced by a qualified workshop . •
