12 Print head maintenance

12.1 Required tools/accessories

Protective gloves
Protective goggles
Cleaning cloths (WW3009)
Cleaning solution (face plate solution)
New silicone tube from closed package

12.2 Daily print head maintenance

12.2.1 Beginning of shift and, if necessary, during the shift
Nozzles can fail due to soiled media or longer downtimes. The following work
has to be carried out daily before starting work (once every 24 hours in case
of 24-hour operation) and, if necessary, during the shift:
1. Initiate the long purge cycle (→ Page 133 / Carrying out the long purge
cycle).
2. Wipe all the print heads wet (→ Page 134 / Wiping print heads wet).
3. Begin with printing within the next half an hour. The print should fulfill
at least the following parameters:
Duration: min. 20 min
Width: 2 m
Material: Kapa
Quality: 4-pass bidirectional
Tone: Dark images
4. If several nozzles have failed and angled jets are evident: Suck out
nozzles (→ Page 136 / Vacuuming out soiled nozzles).
5. If the quality issues have not been remedied: Notify Durst customer
service.
Warranty and guarantee claims can only be made if the test
images have been retained.
6. Archive test image (→ Page 141 / Documentation of the print head state).

12.3 Weekly print head maintenance

12.3.1 Shutdown for the weekend or up to a max. of 4 days
The following work has to be carried out at the beginning of the shift on the
last workday:
