line

invoked if the optional parameter(s) are omitted. Many of the commands
use control characters which are indicated by a carat character '^'
preceding a letter.
(E.g. Control-A is shown as ^A).

Some commands use parameters with variable values. The command
descriptions use a generic designator to indicate these parameters. The
following chart shows each of the designators with their meanings and the
permitted values.
