3. DISCONNECT CONNECTING ROD FROM PISTON
(a) Using needle-nose pliers. remove the snap rings.
(bl Gradually heat the piston to about

Using a brass bar and hammer, lightly tap out the
piston pin and remove the connecting rod.
(d)
Arrange the piston. piston pin, piston ring and con-
necting
rod together for each cylinder.
INSPECTION OF PISTON, PISTON RING AND
CONNECTING ROD
1. CLEAN PISTON
(al Scrape carbon from the piston top.
(b)
Using a groove cleaning tool or broken ring, clean the
ring grooves.
(cl Using solvent and brush , clean the piston thoroughly.
CAUTION: Do not use a wire brush.

MEASURE PISTON DIAMETER AND OIL CLEARANCE

Using a micrometer, measure the piston diameter at
right angles to the piston pin center line, 1 8 mm
