TURBOCHARGER (2C-T on ly)
CAUTION :
• Do not stop the engine immediately after high-speed
or uphill driving or pulling trailers, but kee p the
engine running at idle for
20 - 120
seconds depend-
ing on the driving co ndition.
• Avoid sudden racing or ac, c e leration immediately
after starting a co ld eng ine.
• If the turbocharge r is defective and must be rep-
lace d. first check fo r the cause of the defe ct in
reference to the following
items and replace parts i f
necessary:
Engine oil l eve l and quality
Conditions under which the turbocharge r was
used
Oil lines leading to the turboc harger
• Use cautio n when removing and reinstaU ing the tu r-
bocharger a.ssembty. Do not drop it or bang it against
anyth ing, and never grasp it by easily-deformed
parts such as the actuator or rod whe n mov i ng it.
• Before removing the turbocharger . plug the intake
and exha ust ports and oil inlet t o pre v ent entry of
dirt or other foreign particles .
• If replacing the turbocharger, check fo r accumula-
tion of sludge particles in the oi l pipes and, if
necessary, re·p1ace the oil pipes.
• Complete ly remove t he gaskets adhered to the
lubrication oil pipe flange and turbocharger oil
flange.
• If replacing bolts or nuts. do so only wit h the
specified new ones to guard against breakage or
deformation .
• If replacing the turbocharger , put in

cu in.I
of oil in the oil inlet of the new one and turn the
impeller by hand to spread oi l to
the
bearing .
• If the engine is run with the air cleaner. case cover
and hose removed . foreign part icles entering will
damage the wheels which run at extremely high
s' p eed .
• If the engine was replaced or overhauled, shut off
fuel and glow function after reassembly and crank
the engine for 30 seconds to spread oil th roughtout.
Then . allow the engine to idle for 60 seconds.
