9. REMOVE RELIEF VALVE FROM COMPRESSOR
ELBOW
INSPECTION OF TURBOCHARGER
1.
INSPECT IMPELLER WHEEL ROTATION
Grasp the edge of the turbine wheel
and tum it.
Check that
the impeller wheel turns smoothly.
If the impeller wheel does not tum or
if
it turns with a drag,
replace the turbocharger assembly.
2. INSPECT AXIAL PLAY OF SHAFT
BEARJNG
Insert a dial gauge into the intake side, hold the turbine
wheel edge by hand and check the axial play.
Standard clearance : 0.13 mm (0.0051
in.)
or less
If
not within specification. replace the turbocharger as-
sembly.
INSTALLATION OF TURBOCHARGER

CAUTION: After replacing a turbocharger assembly,
pour about 20 cc (1.2 c u in.I of new oil Into the oil inlet
and then turn the Impe ll er wheel by hand to splas h oil
on the bearing.
INSTALL RELIEF VALVE TO
COMPRESSOR ELBOW
Torque:
375 kg-cm (27 ft-lb, 37 N·ml
2. INSTALL TURBINE ELBOW
Install the gasket and turbine elbow with the four nuts and
washer.
Torque:
250 kg-cm (18 ft-lb, 25 N·ml
