Before You Start
People Density is supported by the panoramic channel. You need to select People Density for
Camera 02 or Camera 03 on VCA Resource page first.
Steps
1. Enable the function in Configuration → People Density → Rule .
2. Set a detection area.
- Click
, and click on the live image to define the boundary of the detection area. Left click to
finish drawing.
- Click
to clear selected areas.
- Click
to clear all the areas.

Up to 8 areas can be set at the same time.
3. Select an area from the list and set the target size as Large-size Target or Small-size Target.
- Click
, and a frame of 40 × 40 pixels will be displayed in the live image. If the shoulder of
the target is wider than the frame, you should select Large-size Target.
- Click
, and a frame of 20 × 20 pixels will be displayed in the live image. If the shoulder of
the target is shorter than the frame, you should select Small-size Target.
Note
If the shoulder width is between the two modes, adjust installation position and device angle to
meet the requirements.
4. Define the Density Level by the number of people in the detection area and the target pixel
ratio.

Up to three levels can be configured. The density increases from level 1 to level 3.
The target pixel ratio is optional. When it is enabled, both the set number of people and the
ratio should be met to reach the density level.
Example
Set the people number of Level 1 as 10, Level 2 as 100, and Level 3 as 1000. When the number
of people in the detection area is less than 10, the alarm is not triggered. When the number of
people is between 10 and 100, Level 1 alarm is triggered. When the number of people is
between 100 and 1000, Level 2 alarm is triggered. When the number exceeds 1000, Level 3
alarm is triggered.
5. Click Save.

Set the range for each level by inputting the lower limit of the number of
people in the detection area.
Target pixel ratio refers to the ratio of the detection area occupied by
people. Check Enable Target Pixel Ratio and input the lower limit of target
pixel ratio for each level.
