Creating the PHM

After creating the CPU carrier assembly, please follow the instructions below to mount the
CPU carrier into the heatsink to form the PHM.
Note: If this is a new heatsink, the thermal grease has been pre-applied on the underside.
Otherwise, apply the proper amount of thermal grease.
1. Turn the heatsink over with the thermal grease, which is on the bottom side of the
heatsink, facing up. Pay attention to the two triangle cutouts (marked A and B) located at
the diagonal corners of the heatsink as shown below.
2. Hold the CPU carrier component side facing up, and locate the triangle on the CPU and
the triangle on the carrier. (Triangle indicates Pin 1.)
3. Using Pin 1 as a guide, turn the CPU carrier assembly over with the gold contacts facing
up. Locate the triangle cutout (marked A) on the heatsink and the corner (marked a) on
the CPU carrier assembly.
4. Align the corner (marked a) on the CPU carrier assembly against the triangle cutout
(marked A) on the heatsink, and align the corners (marked b, c, and d) on the CPU
carrier assembly against the corners (marked B, C, and D) on the heatsink.
5. Once they are properly aligned, place the corners (marked a, b, c, and d) on the
processor carrier assembly into the corners of the heatsink (marked A, B, C, and D),
making sure that all plastic clips are properly attached to the heatsink.
