KERNEL.EXE multiplexes
The Nortel Quality Monitoring Kernel initially handles all requests for voice
and data monitoring, using the other Nortel Quality Monitoring server
executables as processes to manage hardware requests and file handling
tasks. When you select the Nortel Quality Monitoring Server icon, the
Kernel initializes automatically.
Upon initialization, the Kernel logs into the database (specified in
Server.ini) and maintains an open connection to the database to retrieve all
necessary information for the Nortel Quality Monitoring Scheduler and
Random utilities. The Kernel continually polls the database approximately
every 30 seconds for new database additions.
Subsequently, the Kernel reads the Process.ini to determine what processes
it should launch.
Note: You should not disable any processes at any time.
Note: The Nortel Quality Monitoring Playback Client (WITCLIENT32) is
the only application from the suite of administrator utilities that has any
interaction with the Kernel or any of its generated processes.
The Nortel Quality Monitoring Kernel displays all Login, Filter,
Scheduler, and system maintenance events and other critical information in
its display window when DEBUG is turned on.
Note: You should minimize the Kernel display window to preserve GDI
resources unless you are using it for troubleshooting.
Note: There is no window when running as a service.
