The ZT 5515A-1B has an on-board IDE controller that provides two IDE channels for interfacing
with up to four IDE devices. The IDE controller is incorporated into the Intel 845E chipset which
supports ATA-100. There is one 44-pin IDE connector on the ZT 5515A-1B, which supports up to
two IDE devices (though there is only space on the board itself to mount one device). The
secondary IDE channel is available through the rear panel connector (J5).

Disk Drive Support
The ZT 5515 supports internal and external IDE devices. These configurations are described
below.
Primary IDE Channel
The ZT 5515's primary IDE channel is directed to the J8 IDE connector. J8 is used to interface with
the locally mounted hard drive. For specifications of the J8 IDE connector, see
"J30 (COM1 Serial Port)" on page
Secondary IDE Channel
The ZT 5515's Secondary IDE channel is directed via the J5 rear-panel I/O connector to a
compatible rear panel I/O board. Rear Panel I/O boards, such as the ZT 4807, can be installed in-
line behind the ZT 5515 to provide expanded I/O capability. See
