Model 512 Instruction Manual
The Model 512 employs a 40-character alphanumeric vacuum fluorescent display. The display
provides the user with test conditions, and error information. During Test the display provides
data in four fields: CONDITION, FROM POINT, TO POINT, and CIRCUIT LABELS. All four
fields use alphanumeric characters.

REAR PANEL LAYOUT

The rear panel contains a power switch; an AC receptacle for line power connection; a power
fuse; Footswitch connector; Probe connector for either a probe or wrist strap; an external speaker
connector, an Enable receptacle; a serial port connector for a printer, and a serial port for a
terminal or personal computer (PC). Test points are provided on the rear panel through eight
64-pin connectors (J1 through J8).
A wrist-strap kit provides the capability to locate wires by touch during assembly and
troubleshooting, utilizing body conductance. A probe provided in the kit may also be used.
A foot switch is provided for advancing through the test and assembly modes, or restarting the
test mode.
An optional 80-column serial printer provides hard copies of error lists, wire lists, and user label
lists. Refer to Printer Setup instructions in the System Setup section.
