Model 512 Instruction Manual

Learn Known Good Clock Speed - SL #

This command sets up the clock speed for a Learn Known Good. The Model 512 has a user-
programmable Learn Known Good clock speed. In most cases, this function is not necessary. In
special cases, however, where a long cable or a cable with higher than normal capacitance is
being tested, the user may need to set the scan clock to a slower speed to obtain consistent
results. The Learn Known Good clock speed is normally set slower than the test clock because
Learn Known Good is not used frequently and the lower clock speed minimizes cross-talk and
interwire capacitance problems.

Start Point - SP #

This option allows the user to change the test start point. Normally, the start point is set to test
point one in the system at power-on. This setting is used by the test modes when testing for
shorts. Increasing the start point and decreasing the maximum transmit point and the maximum
receive board will shorten the test cycle during LOOP TEST. By programming a start point, a
maximum transmit point, and a maximum receive board, it is possible to connect a harness to
points outside these limits while testing the other harness without causing shorts. This allows
the system to be time-shared between different test stations without disconnecting the test
fixtures. Only one program may be in memory at one time; therefore, the floppy disk option will
help to increase through-put for the system. System setup parameters are stored along with each
program and are automatically set up when the program is loaded.

CHAINING PROGRAMS

There are some applications that require more than one wire list to be run to completely test an
assembly; e.g., assemblies with switches. This function allows a program to be automatically
loaded after the current wire list program in memory is used.

Chain File - CF [filename]

To assign a chain file, load the first wire list program using the LOAD command.
followed by the file name of the second wire list to run, and press ENTER. Save the wire list
program using the REPLACE command. To run a third program, load the second wire list and
assign a chain file name and save. To loop back to the first wire list, load the last file and use the
CF command to assign the first wire list file name and save.

Clear Chain File - CC

This function clears the chain file name originally assigned with the CF command. The program
must be re-saved after the CC command is issued in order to remove the chain file from the
program permanently.
