DISK DRIVE
A built-in Disk Drive enables the storing of several (112 programs maximum per floppy) test
programs on a 3.5-inch diskette. The Model 512 uses an MS DOS 720 Kbyte format. Use
double density (2DD) diskettes only.
PRINTER
An optional printer produces hardcopy records of test results, wire list programs, and system
setup parameters.
KEYBOARD/CRT TERMINAL
An optional Keyboard/CRT Terminal enables keyboard entry of wire lists (in lieu of "learning"
by scanning a "known good") and control commands (in lieu of switch selections on the Front
Panel). The CRT displays the commands and wire list programs, as well as point-to-point
tabulations of test results.
USER LABELS
The Model 512 has the capability of assigning labels to the tester test points. These user labels
relate tester point numbers to their corresponding harness connector/pin numbers (in the wire
list). (User Labels are also referred to as cross references, user notation, and point ID.) Each
user label used in the wire list must have a tester point number assigned. The user label is
determined by the wiring relationship from the back of the scanner boards, through the interface
cables, and the fixture wiring. User labels cannot be learned; they must be keyed in.
PC INTERFACE AND CONTROL
Optional PC software programs, TERM and TestRite, are available to control the Model 512
through the serial RS-232C Terminal port. TERM is a DOS-based program, whereas TestRite is
a Windows 95/NT program.
TERM is a terminal emulation program that allows keyboard entry and control like an optional
terminal. The program also has features to allow wire lists to be uploaded and downloaded to
the tester. Additionally, wire list programs can be entered in a text editor on the PC without the
tester being connected.
TestRite is a tool for creating, editing, and testing wire list programs.
Without a tester
connected, wire lists (continuities) and cross-reference lists (test point labels) can be created by
keyboard. With a tester connected, a program can be learned from a harness by first selecting a
LEARN command from the TestRite tool bar. The wire list can then be saved to disk, or cross-
references can be assigned to test points prior to saving. To simplify operation, all tester-related
commands are automatically sent in response to the editing process. This interactive operation
during wire list editing greatly reduces and simplifies the programming process. The TestRite
(Editor) also provides testing and displays error lists without leaving the editing process.
