Model 512 Instruction Manual

Interface Wire List

First, a Wire List for the test fixture harness is generated - for use in programming the User
Notation Table and also for fabricating the interface harness. For this example, all 22 pins can
be interfaced to a single tester connector since the Model 512 uses 64-pin connectors.
points are consecutively numbered on the tester starting with J1 pin 1 through J1 pin 64.
Connector J2 pin 1 then begins with test point number 65. The Wire List below relates the point
number on the tester to the tester connector and pin, and the harness connector and pin.

Be careful when using interface cables between the fixture connectors and
tester connectors. If different connector types are used on opposite ends of the
cables, their pin numbering sequences must be considered. The connectors on
the tester are numbered with the odd pins on the top row and the even pins on
the bottom row. Pin 1 is at the upper right corner. Champ style connectors
(often used as the fixture connectors) are numbered with the first 32 pins
numbered consecutively across the top and the second 32 across the bottom.
When the interface cables are made using flat cable and these two connector
types, pin 2 on the tester connector is connected to 33 on the Champ connector,
4 to 34, 6 to 35, etc. To eliminate translation problems, use flat cable pin
numbering convention on the Champ connector.
