Model 512 Instruction Manual

TERMINAL INTERFACE

An RS-232C TERMINAL port on the rear panel (Figure 2) accommodates a Terminal.
1. Prepare terminal for use and connect it to its proper power source, in accordance with the
terminal manufacturer's manual.
2. Connect terminal interface cable (5210789) to the TERMINAL connector on the rear
panel of the Model 512.
3. Turn the terminal power switch ON.
4. Set the Model 512 power switch to ON.
5. Refer to Set Terminal Baud Rate in the Sub-Menu Functions section of this manual and
set the baud rate for 9600.

Data Format

If the terminal was not supplied by Cablescan, the following setup data are required:
Transmission to the terminal is at 9600 Baud, with 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, no parity.

Terminal Cable

The terminal interface cable is not wired one-to-one. Data Out from the tester must be connected
to Data In on the terminal and Data In on the tester must be wired to Data Out on the terminal.
Both the Model 512 and the Terminal have 25-pin D-type female connectors; therefore, the
interface cable has male connectors on both ends. The cable is wired as follows:
