Model 512 Instruction Manual
The Cablescan Model 512 is a microprocessor-based continuity tester. It can be used as an
assembly aid, an in-process continuity tester, and a final interconnect verification instrument for
harnesses, backplanes, and cables. Besides being self-programming, the tester provides a variety
of programming methods and floppy-disk storage of programs. An optional printer generates
hardcopy test records, and an optional Keyboard/CRT provides control in user language. The
tester may also be controlled by a Personal Computer through an RS-232C Terminal port.

MAJOR FEATURES

Major functions of the Model 512 are as follows:
• Self Programming for circuit testing by "learning" a known good circuit.
• Programming by downloading from a PC.
• Automatic Test of each circuit (cable, harness, etc.) to be tested.
• Assembly assistance by displaying build information.
• Program save and load.
• Identification or location of wires through touch, using wrist strap or probe.
• Self Test of the Model 512.
• Program compatible with other Cablescan testers.
• Alphanumeric test point labels (User Labels).
Optional features are:
• Printout of wire list learned during self programming.
• Printout of errors encountered during test.
• Control by PC with Cablescan PC software.
