CARE OF THE MODEL 512

MAINTENANCE

The most common source of trouble with the Model 512 is poor connection with the harness or
circuit being tested. This problem can be prevented or reduced by routine inspection for
damage, wear, or foreign matter. Be especially aware that poor connections during the learn-
known-good process will prevent a complete wire list program.
Cleaning of the controls, front panels, and other surfaces may be done with any mild soap and
water. All "wetted" areas must be thoroughly dried after cleaning.

REPAIR

If the Model 512 requires repair due to any defect of manufacture, and it is within the warranty
period, contact Cablescan, Inc., for instructions on returning it to the factory. Even if the Model
512 is beyond the warranty period, and repair is necessary, it is advisable to return the unit to the
factory for repair.
If it is necessary for the user to replace parts, the replacement parts must be Cablescan, Inc.,
parts, or parts of equivalent rating and quality.
NOTE
Please read "Warranty" in the front of this manual.

MEMORY BACKUP BATTERY

If it is determined that the backup battery is faulty, do not attempt replacement of the battery.
Battery replacement must be done by Cablescan, Inc. The battery is an integral part of the
memory IC socket and requires replacement of the complete socket.
