Remove the drive carrier

Before you begin
Follow all safety guidelines.
CAUTION
Before you perform this task, ensure that you have performed all required
software steps for preparing the drive for removal. For information, see "SDS
hard drive replacement procedural checklist" in the VxFlex Ready Node Field
Replacement Unit Software Guide .
If the drive is online, the green activity or fault indicator flashes while the drive is
turning off. When the drive indicators are off, the drive is ready for removal. For
more information, see the storage controller documentation.
CAUTION
Mixing drive carriers from previous generations of VxFlex Ready Node servers is
not supported.
Procedure
1. Press the release button to open the drive carrier release handle.
2. Holding the handle, slide the drive carrier out of the drive slot.
Note
If you are not replacing the drive immediately, install a drive blank in the empty
drive slot to maintain proper system cooling.
