Installing an optional NIC

☐ 5 Disconnect the power cords
and I/O cables.
☐ 6 Extend the system from the
cabinet.
☐ 7 Remove the system cover.
☐ 8 Remove the NIC from the
expansion card riser.
☐ 9 Install the NIC into the
expansion card riser.
☐ 10 Install the system cover.
☐ 11 Slide the system into the
cabinet.
☐ 12 Connect the I/O cables and
power cords.
☐ 13 Install the bezel.
Perform mandatory software tasks to return the node to operation:
☐ 14 Verify the NIC in system
setup.
☐ 15 Verify the new network card
in the server.
☐ 16 Return the node to
operation.
Use the following procedure to install a network interface card when the first NIC is
installed in the network daughter card.
This procedure is for Data Domain scenarios when a BOSS card is not used.

Before starting this FRU procedure, familiarize yourself with the topics in
information before performing a FRU procedure
CAUTION
This FRU procedure requires you to perform mandatory software tasks in VxFlex
OS, as described in the VxFlex Ready Node Field Replacement Unit Software Guide .
