NOTE:
Depending on the percent incremental steps chosen, there may not
be any apparent valve movement for the first few arrow key movements. Basi-
cally the ETC can be compared to an electronic throttle cam. If the initial cam
profile is flat for a specific engine application, there will be no valve position
change for a given arrow key selection. If the electronic throttle control on the
engine does respond to this test, then diagnose the wiring or sensors between
the ECM, the throttle control box at the helm or the ETC itself. Refer to the elec-
trical wiring diagram in the service manual if needed.
